My Top 5 Books of 2014

Here are my top 5 books I read in 2014:

liars   mebefore  sea  divergent  fangirl

  1. We Were Liars – E. L. Lockhart
I think I’ve read this book twice more since I first finished it, and it still gets me. I love the writing. I love the characters. I love the storyline. Easily my favorite book of the year, this is one I doubt I’ll ever forget.
  2. Me Before You – Jojo Moyes
This was such a beautiful story. I totally fell in love with Lou and Will. Their banter. Their day-to-day. I wanted it to go on forever.
  3. The Sea of Tranquility – Katja Millay
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve re-read this one. It’s my go-to book whenever I’m in a reading rut. I just re-read The Sea of Tranquility. And it never gets old.
  4. Divergent – Veronica Roth
This book threw me into a tailspin. I immediately read the remainder of the series, followed by all the shorts about Four.
    I. Could. Not. Get. Enough! This is by far my favorite book in the series – so captivating!!
  5. Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
I had to deliberate long and hard about whether to put this or Eleanor and Park to round out my top 5. I loved them both. Rainbow has this beautifully simplistic way of capturing memorable, real characters that I just love. She’s kicked off an obsession where I have to read everything she’s written. I know I’ll love it all.

What were your 2014 favorites? Did any of mine make your list?

Top Ten Tuesday – Top 10 Sequels I Can’t Wait to Read!

toptentuesday

This week I’m participating in The Broke and Bookish meme, Top Ten Tuesday. I’m so excited to share 10 sequels that I cannot wait to read!

  1. The Winds of Winter – When will it come?!?!? I’m probably going to need to re-read the series by the time this one is released!
  2. Breakable – I loved Easy! It was such a well-told story. When I heard Breakable wasn’t a carbon copy of book one like a lot of male POV follow ups, I knew it would be one I have to read.
  3. Isla and the Happily Ever After – Loved book one. Two was so-so. I’m hoping three will return to greatness!
  4. Reflected in You – Because Gideon.
  5. Reckless – And Kellan.
  6. Beautiful Oblivion – And Maddox brothers…
  7. The Scorch Trials – I enjoyed The Maze Runner and I’ve heard this is even better!
  8. Beautiful Stranger – I am really hoping it’s as enticing and rich with curse words as the first. 😉
  9. Where She Went– I’m curious to learn what happened to Mia after the way If I Stay ended.
  10. Dearest Clementine – While not truly a sequel, it’s actually book one, these are standalones and I really enjoyed Finding Dandelion.

Are any of these on your TBR list? What sequels are you eagerly awaiting?

What I Want (to read) Wednesday

I have been on a reading upswing!! Granted, a lot of it has been audiobook upswing, but still. I’m loving every minute of my commute. I’ve even sat in the car and listened on for a few minutes [gasp!]. So here’s what I want to read (or possibly listen to) next!!

  1. Ugly Love – Colleen Hoover. Seriously I have been seeing everywhere this book is amaze-balls. I’m reading Slammed now, which is sadly my first Colleen Hoover book (I know, shocker!!). Ready to make this one #2!
  2. Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell. Oddly enough, this book was published one year ago today. Seems fitting. I loved Eleanor and Park. The simplicity was beautiful. Can’t wait for this one!
  3. All the Light We Cannot See – Anthony Doerr. I LOVE a good historical fiction, especially those set during WWII. This one has been getting stellar reviews so I definitely want to check it out.
  4. The Maze Runner – James Dashner. I need some YA in my life on a regular basis. With the movie coming out I feel like this is one I’ve got to get my hands on and soon.
  5. The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks – E. Lockart. Okay, maybe I’m just adding this one because I really just want to read We Were Liars over and over and over again. But seriously. I have to read more of her words.

What about you?? What can’t you wait for??
